2012:  The Year of  Employment Law Reform

Dundas & Wilson's Employment Team operates as a single practice group covering the whole of the UK.  As a team we are fortunate to work with a wide range of clients which are prominent in all of the sectors in which the firm operates.

Despite the continued economic circumstances, the complex transactional work for which we are renowned remains solid.  As a team we remain passionate about innovation and continue to search for new and better ways to deliver services to our clients.  This includes how we keep you informed of developments in the rapidly changing world of employment law.

2012 will see the start of the greatest shake up in employment law for decades, with changes affecting all areas of employment law, from the way the tribunal system operates to further changes to the Acas Code of Practice.  Through our regular client communications, and online training we will be on hand to guide you through the variety of changes on the agenda.

In 2012 we consider that employers will be looking to maximise performance from their employees, with a renewed focus on capability procedures and appraisals.  It will take some time before we see the full impact of the removal of the Default Retirement Age, but issues like workforce planning will be a key issue for HR professionals.  With salary freezes and limited options in relation to financial incentives, HR will be focussing on strong people management, effective communication and the avoidance of workplace disputes. Internal workplace mediation can play a part in helping to build a culture where disputes are tackled early before they escalate.

Leading the Trend

We believe that, as a leading firm, we must have a pioneering approach to our work.  This thinking, coupled with our unsurpassed experience and commercial approach, is why we continue to provide the gold standard of service to our clients across the UK.
