The use of planning and infrastructure agreements is increasing as planning and other authorities capture planning gain and secure environmental standards in development.
Ann Faulds was the legal member of the Scottish Government research team on 'The Use and Effectiveness of Planning Agreements in Scotland'. We have wide experience of such agreements and unilateral obligations. Some are straightforward and might simply be related to a green travel plan; others are more complex.
For instance, we have advised on the many planning agreements required for the Oakwood Park development related to the expansion of Stansted Airport and on the planning and infrastructure agreements for the Guinness Brewery redevelopment, Park Royal London, including the provision of a new tube station.
We also advised North Lanarkshire Council on the Ravenscraig agreement, which regulates a range of issues over a 20 year development
period. Ravenscraig is one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe. We are also advising Renfrewshire Council on their
agreement for the regeneration of the munitions factory in Bishopton.
