We have extensive and diverse experience across the UK in the energy and utilities markets, fielding a team which covers all aspects of energy transactions as well as regulatory support, and focusing on key strategic developments in the sector.
Renewable Energy- we have significant experience in acting in onshore wind farm transactions, including due diligence of portfolio acquisitions and large financings and refinancings, which we are now extending to offshore wind, and have worked for developers and funders on new technologies such as biomass, wave and tidal power and biofuels.
Nuclear Energy- we are developing our well known presence in this sector, working on both the extension of the life of current UK plants and on the planning of the next generation of reactors. We are helping to shape the market in areas such as decommissioning contracting, funding of decommissioning, construction procurement and insurance.
Conventional Power- our energy gap which can't be filled by renewables and nuclear will have to be filled by conventional, mainly gas fired, power and imports. Coal fired power stations bring their own environmental issues. Waste to Energy and CHP schemes are also key areas of activity currently. Gas storage facilities are becoming vital to secure supply. Transmission and interconnection issues remain fundamental to the efficient delivery of power across the UK and beyond. We also advise clients in the oil & gas sector on offshore and onshore field development and financing.
Utilities- we have a strong penetration of the UK utilities market, with particular experience in the power and water sectors. Our clients include utility companies, project sponsors and developers, offtakers, partnering bodies and funders. Environmental, regulatory and transaction support are the core services we provide.
Our core skills range from specialist sector technical and regulatory knowledge to the provision of due diligence and corporate support encompassing planning, environmental and, through our Project Finance team, all relevant finance issues.
