Our public sector specialists advise a range of public sector clients on a variety of employment issues.

Our team has expertise in the strategic defence of public sector equal pay claims and is currently defending multiple public sector equal pay tribunal claims.

Team members are regularly invited to address public sector events such as the Public Service People Management conference on the Future of Equal Pay. In addition we host our own focused events for the public sector, including for example our Gender Equality Duty seminar, speaking on equal pay and the public sector.

The team also has extensive experience of advising public sector employers. Some of our more recent experiences include:

• Providing an expert opinion to a local authority on compliance with their monitoring obligations under the Race Equality Duty
• advising NDPBs, and other public sector bodies, on day to day employment matters including industrial relations/trade union issues, pay negotiations, terms and conditions of employment and collective consultation, sickness absence issues and equality and diversity
• delivering a keynote session on the latest developments in Equal Pay at the Universities HR Directors Conference.

We recognise that public sector workplaces face a number of unique challenges and are subject to various enhanced legislative obligations. As a result our public sector team produce a number of specific public sector updates and bulletins, and host an annual public sector Employment Update seminar.
