Employee Incentives

We act for a broad range of companies, from start ups to listed companies, on share incentive planning.

For bigger private companies or listed companies this has involved advising on bespoke long term incentive plans, all-employee share plans and employee trusts.

We also advise private companies on appropriate employee share ownership structures to suit their commercial requirements, primarily from the perspective of providing incentives to employees but also in certain circumstances to enable a transition in ownership.

Where the aim is to provide incentives, these companies may be considering employee share incentives at all levels or may be concentrating on key staff where “enterprise management incentives” can offer significant tax benefits for the employees concerned.

We also advise clients on the tax aspects of the wider employment relationship, including on the termination of the employment. In this area we work closely with our colleagues in Employment.
