In September 2009, Heather McKirdy from our Glasgow Tax team organised a charity football tournament to raise funds for the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).
In February 2006, Heather sadly lost a good friend to suicide and the annual football tournament is one of the ways in which Heather contributes to SAMH, a charity now very close to her heart.
This year, the tournament raised a fantastic £2510 which takes the total raised by the Heather and friends, since their friends death, to over £50,000.
Heather, who is also a director of SAMH, said: "Our aim is to raise awareness and remove the stigma surrounding mental health in order that individuals can more easily seek the support which is available to aid recovery. GET ACTIVE was a SAMH initiative launched this year with the support of our Ambassador Sir Chris Hoy, linking the positive impact of activity on an individual's mental health and wellbeing and, the football tournament is prime example of this."
