Structure of Traineeship
D&W has a large range of seats on offer to trainees. You will
have up to four different seats during your traineeship and you will
have input into deciding the practice areas in which you are placed.
Please see Our Skills for further information about our practice areas.
A number of secondments to clients' offices are available to trainees.
These give you the chance to increase your understanding of our clients'
businesses and are an excellent opportunity to build your commercial
awareness. Our Scottish-based trainees have the opportunity to work
in our London office for 6 months and are encouraged to spend a seat
in both the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices. Trainees based in our London
office can spend 6 months in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow offices.
Towards the end of your traineeship you are given the opportunity
to apply for any of our Newly Qualified vacancies. The majority of
trainees stay with us after qualification. In 2004 our retention rate
was just under 90%.
