Date:
27 Apr 2009

Dundas & Wilson has again risen in the rankings of UK law firms in the latest annual Chambers report based on research compiled from FTSE 1 – 250 clients.

UK law firm Dundas & Wilson came joint first with Nabarro in the FTSE 100 Real Estate category, placing it ahead of competitors Eversheds, Addleshaw Goddard and Berwin Leighton Paisner.

It secured joint second place for its work with FTSE 100 Utilities companies along with major firms like Clifford Chance, Linklaters and Slaughter & May.

For its FTSE 100 work, Dundas & Wilson was rated respectively 4th equal with Latham & Watkins Freshfields Linklaters and Bond Pearce on regulation and 7th equal on financial companies along with Herbert Smith and Lovells.

It was also ranked fourth in improved law firm rankings with the FTSE 100 and was ranked 15th as a generalist law firm by the types of work it does for FTSE 1– 250 companies perhaps surprisingly ahead of other firms like Herbert Smith, Norton Rose and CMS Cameron McKenna.

Dundas & Wilson managing partner Donald Shaw said:”This recognises the work we do to support the business of some of the biggest and highest profile UK companies. It reflects our totally client focused approach. We hugely appreciate the increasing support from major clients at a time when everyone is experiencing difficult economic conditions.”

As well as working for major and mid sized corporate clients, Dundas & Wilson is coordinating the international legal strategy to recover the assets of Madoff Securities International Limited, the English company that was operated by the disgraced Bernard Madoff.

Donald Shaw added:” Clients work on rethinking their use of firms is ongoing and has been reinforced by the changing economic circumstances. Many clients seem to prefer a leaner more cost effective experience in these straitened times.”

The Chambers FTSE client report asks legal counsel for companies in the FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 to rate their key law firms.

The recognition by Chambers is the second accolade for Dundas & Wilson in recent weeks. The firm was ranked second amongst UK national firms in the Legal Week Intelligence survey of 2,500 law students. That survey looks at a variety of factors including prestige from the perspective of the next generation of legal graduates.
