How do I listen?

You need

• to be connected to the internet
• a media player on your computer with a sound card, speakers or headphones.

Do I need a particular media player?

Almost any free media player which will play MP3 recordings, including Windows Media Player, Apple iTunes, Real Player and Quick Time Media Player.

Do I need an iPod or MP3 player to listen?

No. Anyone with a computer connected to the internet can subscribe to and receive podcasts.

I can’t hear anything – what can I do?

• Check you have media player software installed on your computer.
• Check that the status-window beneth the ‘listen live’ link says ‘Playing’. If it says ‘Playing’ and you still can’t hear the D&W Vox check your speakers are on and the volume is turned up. You can do this by checking your volume settings through your control panel.
• If you are at work, your company may have a ‘firewall’ enabled. If this is the case contact your IT department at your company to determine whether the ‘firewall’ proxy settings can be re-set.
  

Yes. All D&W Vox podcasts are stored in the iTunes Podcast Directory for download.

Can I listen to D&W Vox using my mobile phone?

There is currently no service to stream or download D&W Vox podcasts onto mobile phones.

Downloading

What is the difference between downloading, podcasting and ’listen again’ service?

Your media player offers live and ‘listen again’ audios for each D&W Vox. To listen you need to be online, the audio is not recorded to your computer.

Downloading allows you to keep the audio recordings indefinitely to re-play in your own time. You can then listen to the download from your computer at any time or transfer the MP3 file to any compatible device, such as an iPod / MP3 player.

Podcasting is an automated process of downloading the MP3 files. You can subscribe to the podcast via the podcast software e.g. iTunes, Juice. This software then allows you to download the new files as soon as they become available. Find out how to subscribe>

Where do I find the download / podcast links?

Look out for ‘ways to listen’ boxes.

How can I download to my MP3 player?

Right click and click on ‘Save Target’ to save the download to your PC. For Mac users press the control (ctrl) key when you right click. Once downloaded you can then transfer this file to your iPod / MP3 player.

Can I download D&W Vox to listen to later?

Yes. Right click and click on ‘Save Target’ to save the download to your PC. For Mac users press the control (ctrl) key when you right click. Once downloaded you can then transfer this file to your iPod / MP3 player.

I’m clicking on the download and it’s playing rather than downloading to my computer?

Rather than left click,right click and click on ‘Save Target’ to save the download to your PC. For Mac users press the control (ctrl) key when you right click.

An error message has appeared – what can I do?

Check that you have a media player installed on your computer, if an error message has appeared in the media player window then please consult the media player help or troubleshoot section.

Subscribe

How do I subscribe?

In order to subscribe to D&W Vox you need to install podcast software and add the URL from the subscription page to your podcast software.

1. Copy the URL of the subscription page. The URL is in the Address bar above starting http://
   
   
   
2. Paste this URL into your podcast software. Details of how to do this will depend on your podcast software but look out for the buttons or links which say ‘Add’ or ‘Subscribe’

Podcast software is usually a free download. Some of the software packages available include iTunes or Juice. Each time a new D&W Vox is released it will automatically download to your podcast software.

Note: If you are an iTunes user you can add this podcast URL to your software via One click subscription. You can also subscribe.

In iTunes you can subscribe to the some of the podcasts through the iTunes Podcast Directory.
