What did you do before life at Dundas & Wilson?

Restaurant manager in the Highlands, green-side scorer at The Open, promotions girl for L'Oréal at international surfing competitions (not as glamorous as it sounds!), ski holiday rep, Edinburgh Festival Fringe actress, chambermaid, receptionist, barmaid, waitress, VIP room door staff member....

What were your first impressions of Dundas & Wilson?

I was a summer student in the Banking department two years before I began my traineeship in Corporate so I had a useful head start. My initial impression was that Dundas & Wilson offered a friendly, vibrant and challenging environment - and I wasn't disappointed when I came to work here permanently.

What is/are your favourite thing(s) about working for Dundas & Wilson?

  • Having the opportunity to work on a diverse range of deals with exciting clients.
  • Being offered the chance to move from Edinburgh to London for 6 months to experience the ethos of another office and City life.
  • The "work hard, play hard" mentality. Time in the office can be intense but there are plenty of social events and I have (with drastically varying levels of skill) played hockey, netball and volleyball for Dundas & Wilson.

What are your aspirations both in and out of Dundas & Wilson?

In Dundas & Wilson:

  • To be employed by Dundas & Wilson when I qualify.
  • To take full advantage of the knowledge, support and resources available to me at Dundas & Wilson. The firm's involvement in so many different projects provides endless scope for gaining fresh experience and my team is always willing to help me learn.

Out of Dundas & Wilson:

  • To complete a Marathon in under 4 hours.
  • To play shinty for Scotland.

What are the 3 best pieces of advice you have been given that you would pass on to others?

  • Act quickly, think slowly and never forget attention to detail.
  • Don't forget to smile - it helps to build a rapport and can make it easier to diffuse confrontational situations.
  • Always be prepared to get involved in something new, even if you are really busy or not familiar with the transaction. It is amazing how much you will learn!

What's your most memorable occasion at Dundas & Wilson?

Being invited by a client for fireworks, champagne and haggis in a beautiful Scottish castle at sunset.
