Q. How do I apply?

A. Please complete the online application form at www.dundas-wilson.com.

Q. Who can apply?

A. Edinburgh and Glasgow: Candidates must be in the 3rd year or above of the LLB or the 1st year or above of the Accelerated LLB.

London: Candidates should be in the penultimate year of a law degree or final year of a non-law degree or above.
All summer placement students should be interested in a Traineeship with the firm two years later.

Q. When can I apply?

A. We accept applications through the website between November and January each year for placements the following summer.

Q. What is the application process?

A. When you application is submitted, it will be reviewed by members of our Trainee Committee. Successful candidates complete an online verbal aptitude test. Candidates who score well are then invited to a 1:1 competency based interview with one of our Trainee Committee.

Q. Can I indicate my preferred dates and department?

A. Yes. At your interview you will be asked which dates are more convenient for you and you will also be asked to let us know if there is a particular area of law that you are interested in. If you are offered a summer placement we will try and accommodate your preferences as far as possible.

Q. What do I do if I am having technical issues with my application?

A. If you are having problems with your application, please contact Lorraine Bale and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please note that you should avoid leaving your application to the closing date in case of technical problems.

Q. Can I have feedback if I am unsuccessful?

A. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to offer feedback to candidates who are unsuccessful at the first stage. Candidates who are unsuccessful after the verbal aptitude test or an interview, we can give you feedback on your performance.

Q. How do I allow pop-ups?

A. If you are using Internet Explorer and it is configured to block pop-up windows, you may see a yellow banner appearing at the top of your application window. This banner will alert you to a pop-up that has been blocked. To view the pop-up simply right click on the banner and select the 'always allow' option. Alternatively, select 'Tools' then 'Pop-up blocker - Turn off pop-up Blocker'. If you do not see a yellow banner appearing, you may have a third party pop-up blocking software installed.

Q. How do I disable third party pop-up blocking software?

A. If you do not see a yellow banner appearing, but instead are seeing an alternative 'pop-up blocked' message, this may be due to a third party pop-up blocker ad-on installed onto your internet browser. These are commonly followed with a 'red cross' symbol appearing. To disable this third-party blocker select 'Tools' then 'Manage Ad-ons'. The 'Manage Add-ons' window will now appear displaying a list. You must then highlight the 'Name' of any third party blocking software and select 'Disable'.

Q. Which web browser should I use to complete the form?

A. We recommend using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or above.
