In Dundas Wilson we know that all motorists are fanatics of speed and that at some point, the dream of some is to drive a F1 car and in this article we write the Main Rules for car races.
Many talk about the Aerodynamic Rules and tires that were changed for 2019, but we must add what was approved by the FIA these were a series of sporting changes that made a difference.
The Cars and the Drivers must cover some requirements and in Autoplaza we give you the main ones:
Aerodynamics: Aerodynamics has been simplified to favour overtaking. The most relevant changes are:
- Simplification of the front spoilers and increase in size.
- Expansion of the width and length of the rear wing, with the increase in the effect of the DRS.
- Prohibition and simplification of some aerodynamic elements such as the air ducts of the brakes and some side wings.
Tires: In each grand prize we will have three compounds, selected by Pirelli, with the following denominations: hard (white), medium (yellow) and soft (red).
Minimum weight: The minimum weight of the car, including the driver, goes from 740 to 743 kg. The minimum weight of the driver and his seat must be at least 80 kg, having to add a ballast to compensate for both weights if the minimums are not met.
Penalties: Drivers with penalties that take them to the bottom of the grid will now be sorted by their times in the qualifying session and not on the basis of when they were penalized, as until now.
Fuel: The amount of fuel allowed in the race from 105 to 110 kg.
Oil burning: The FIA will monitor more closely that the teams do not use oil as fuel. This is especially true in qualifying sessions, where there will be no oil in the auxiliary tanks, which are used to maintain engine lubrication levels.
Rain lights: lights have been added to the rear spoiler to improve visibility in rain.
Checkered flag: the end of the race will be indicated by a checkered flag on a panel of lights, although the traditional flag will still be waved.
Safety car: once the safety car is removed, overtaking will be allowed from the finish line and not as before, which was allowed from the line of the safety car.
Biometric gloves: all pilots will be required to wear biometric gloves that will collect the pulse, the amount of oxygen in the blood and the intensity of the pilot’s movement. These data will be kept in a medical center where they will be able to know at all times the status of the pilots and help in accidents.
Helmet: following the dynamics of recent years the FIA has raised the safety standards required of helmets to be worn by pilots. The most visible change is the reduction of 10 millimetres of the visor, in exchange for incorporating this unprecedented protection.
Scoring system: the fast lap of the race passes to award a point if the driver finishes in the top 10 race positions.
In 2019 the young people had new opportunities to practice during big prizes, as they agreed to raise the limit of 60 members per team.
During this year, each team was given six jokers to add to their usual 60 mechanics in the races of their choice, although none of those novice mechanics were able to attend more than two Grand Prix jokers.
